Donald Powelson

POWELSON, Donald K. - Age 88, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Caretel Inns of Linden. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, February 12, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 10 AM until the time of service Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donald was born September 14, 1929 in Otisville, the son of Harold and Ila (Clemons) Powelson. He married P.Joan Whitesel in Flint on May 24, 1952. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from GM as a Superintendent. Donald enjoyed spending many summers in Burt Lake and Cheboygan and winters in Vero Beach, FL. He was and avid golfer, boater, and also enjoyed cruising and hunting in Colorado. Surviving are: his children, Richard (Christine Nowiki) Powelson and Lynn (Nicholas) Sieradzki; grandchildren, Nina (Andy) Powelson, Clay Newell, Nicholas (Tracey) Powelson, Ross (Christy) Newell; great grandchildren, Carter Newell and Luke Powelson; several nieces and nephews; "grand dogs", Hannah, Coco, and Zoey.
