Donald Green

GREEN, Donald L. - age 87, of Grand Blanc, died October 30, 2019. Donald was born January 21, 1932 in Flint, the son of Rouse J. and Bernice M. (Blake) Green. He was a 1950 graduate of Flint Central High School and married Evelyn M. Kiefer, his high school sweetheart on September 13, 1952.  Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). Don worked as an engineer for General Motors and various other companies in the machine tool industry. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. Donald loved traveling, especially cruises, and spending summers at Hubbard Lake with his family for many years.  Surviving are: wife of 67 years, Evelyn Green; four children, Randy (Debra) Green of Linden, Curt (Linda) Green of Otisville, Cheri Green of Spruce, MI, and Keith (Heather) Green of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Ryan  Green (Hannah), Ashley Green (Greg), Justin Green, Eric (Misty) Green, Kyle (Taylor) Carroll, Chelsea Carroll (Tony), Brandon J. Green, Sarah Green, Taylor, Logan and Zoe Petit; three great-grandchildren; close cousin who is like his brother, Orlo Blake, Jr. of Lansing.  A memorial service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint with Rev. Paul Ytterock and Rev. Dr. Joseph Novak officiating. Visitation at 12-1 PM prior to service. The family will also receive friends Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Flint, the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
