Donald Charles KERNEN

KERNEN, Donald Charles - age 76, of Clio, passed away May 14, 2011. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held 1PM Friday, May 20, 2011 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan. Don was born September 4, 1934, in Flint the son of Kenneth and Reva (Harris) Kernen and beloved father of Michael Kernen. He graduated from Holly High School in 1953. Don worked for Grand Trunk railroad in the mid-50's before being drafted into the Army. After being honorably discharged, he became a lifelong auto mechanic and owned Kernen's Auto Parts in Holly. His hobbies included buying and selling old John Deere tractors and watching NASCAR on the weekends. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 2005. Left to share his memories are son, Michael and lifelong friend and high school sweetheart Ida Summers. He will be surely missed, but is in a much better place where pain and misery will be no more.
