HERRONEN, Donald E.   age 74, of Linden, passed away January 24, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center, due to complications of cardiovascular and kidney disease. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 27, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Rev. David Ray will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the Fenton V.F.W. Post #3243. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, 1-3 & 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. A V.F.W. Memorial service will be held 7 PM Wednesday, under the auspices of the Linden V.F.W. Post #4642. Don was born March 29, 1931 in Red Lodge, MT, the son of Elmer and Frances Herronen. He was raised in his early years by Emily and Jack Lindsey in Red Lodge; and in his later years by Elmer and Sonja Herronen in Linden. He was a graduate of Linden High School and lived his entire adult life in the area. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country in the Korean War; he was honorably discharged in 1953. On October 17, 1953 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Selden at the South Mundy United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Linden VFW Post #4642. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers and then at General Motors Proving Grounds Engineering Staff Vehicle Emmisions Lab in Milford. He retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. Don loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling with his brothers and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, James M. (Mary) Herronen, Thomas E. Herronen; grandson, Donny Herronen; granddaughter, Dalila Herronen; brothers, Gary (Sandy) Herronen, John (Julie) Herronen; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and a  niece, Lonna Herronen. Many thanks to the skilled doctors, nurses and other health care professionals that extended Dons life and helped ease the pain when he died.
