Donald Haywood

HAYWOOD, Donald "Don" William- Age 71, of Davison, died Tuesday August 9, 2016. Per Don's wishes cremation has taken place. Services will be held 11AM Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Rd., Flint. Pastor Rob Prince officiating. Visitation will be held 10AM until time of service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Eastside Mission. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Donald was born March 16, 1945 in Sandusky, MI. the son of the late John Wesley and Bertha Mae (Mehlberg) Haywood. He married Helen Ferrenburg - Smith on March 31, 2001 in Flint. Don enjoyed classic cars and loved his 1940 Chevrolet Master Deluxe. He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and raced cars at Auto City Raceway. Mr. Haywood enjoyed reading and was an avid NASCAR fan. Don was a bass singer for southern gospel quartets, also singing with the Michigan and Ohio Concert Choir, and also played the trombone. Don owned and operated Don's Quality Painting. He also worked for the G.M. Buick Division for 33.5 years retiring in 1997. Surviving are: wife, Helen of Davison; children, Kristin (Gary) Harrington of Grand Rapids, Kara Haywood of Grand Blanc, Derick (Rowena) Smith of New Mexico, Aaron (Desirea') Smith of New Mexico, Ryan (Melissa) Smith of Flint, Marci (Sid) Byler of TX; grandchildren, Tiffani, Trevor, Brandon, Adrienne, Camryn, Gabriel, Kaci, Sienna, Landyn, Braylin, Sidney, Shelby and brother, Paul Mehlberg Haywood of CA; sister in law, Marcia K.
