HALKA, Donald John - Age 49, of Mundy Township, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor Lawrence Gill and Fr. Wayne Wheeler Officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Veterans Memorial, City of Swartz Creek, c/o Veterans Memorial, 8083 Civic Dr. Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Donald was born November 23, 1960 in Flint, the son of Donald G. and Ella Mae (Henry) Halka. He was a 1979 graduate of Swartz Creek High School and had attended Manatee Junior College in Florida. He had resided in Mundy Township his entire life. Donald was employed by Genesee County as a 911 dispatcher. Surviving are: sons, Canaan Halka of Swartz Creek and Tyler Halka of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; mother, Ella Mae Halka of Mundy Township; sister, Lorraine and husband Michael Ahearne of Swartz Creek; nephew, Nolan Ahearne; several aunts, uncles and cousins; dear friends, Dawn Johannes, The Don Farrell Family and Fr. Wayne Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald G. Halka and his grandparents. Online tributes may be posted at the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
