Donald Franklin

Franklin, Donald Jackson- Age 78, of Burton, died Monday, February 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Christopher Yager officiating. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 12PM to 2PM and 4PM to 8PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will also be held 10Am until time of service at the church on Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Donald was born December 25, 1936 in Amonata, Virginia, the son of the late William D. and Rose H. (Dunford) Franklin. He married Peggy S. Boswell on July 27, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio. Donald proudly served his country in the Navy. He retired from G.M. Chevrolet Motor Division Plant 5 with 35.5 years of service. Donald enjoyed working out, woodworking and playing guitar and singing at church and nursing homes. Surviving are: wife, Peggy Franklin of Burton; son, W. Daniel (Shelley) Franklin of Ohio; daughter, Dawn Franklin of Clarkston, twin daughters, Melinda F. (Keith) Stone, Brenda K. (Jon) Evans both of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Amber, Danielle, Adam, Austin, Shelby; brother, David "Johnny" (Charlotte) Franklin of Virginia; many nieces and nephews.
