COY, Donald A., age 83 of Flint Township died at his residence, Wednesday January 7, 2009. Don was born January 18, 1925 in Salem, Ohio. He graduated from Central High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II at the Wendover Air Base in Utah. Don played trombone in several swing bands in his youth and in the service. Ruby Elaine Toles married Don on February 18, 1950 and remained his biggest blessing until her death in 2004. In his younger years Don worked at the Coca Cola plant on Lapeer Road for 10 years before going to work at MacGregor Tire Co., where he would become a partner and president. Later in life Don worked as a sales representative with the Lee Wayne Corp. and he was a charter member of King of Glory Lutheran Church. Don was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Clara (Mattmiller) Coy, wife Ruby and his brother Bill. He is survived by his sons Tom and Mike; grandchildren Randy (Dawn), Ryan (Cynthia), Aaron (MaLeia), Scott, McKenzie, Stacey, and Heidi; Great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Christian, Nathan, Samuel, Jacob, Cody, Travis, and Holly. The Coy family would like to express their appreciation to Avalon Hospice and Medical Professionals for their care of Don during the last two years. Visitation will be Friday 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Rd. Chapel 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The funeral will be held Twelve noon Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the King of Glory Lutheran Church 6012 River Rd. in Flushing at the intersection of Beecher Rd. The Rev. Joyce Johnston officiating.
