BREWER, Donald Gene, age 82, of Swartz Creek, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10AM Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3280 E. M-21, Corunna with Pastor Doug Levesque and Pastor Charles Curtman officiating. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8PM Tuesday and 1-9PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church. Don was born October 31, 1926 in Greene County, Arkansas. He was a Navy Veteran during WWII serving on the USS Harry E. Hubbard. Don married wife Vestal on March 1, 1947 in Flint, Michigan. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Corunna, Michigan. He served as a church usher for 60 years and was known as the 'tootsie roll man'. Don was employed by Fisher Body for 30 years retiring in 1977 at age 50. Since retirement, he worked for Rider Custom Homes, Norm Joseph Ford and Preferred Removal Services (Tom Boaz). Surviving are wife of 61 years, Vestal; 3 sons, Terry and wife, Sandra of Flint Township, James and wife, Judy of Flint Township, Scott and wife, Teri of Fenton; 7 grandchildren, Amy and Douglas Levesque of Owosso, Angie and Scott Phillips of Swartz Creek, Jeremy and Tammy Brewer of Owosso, Jenni Brewer of Flint, Jeff Brewer of Flint Township, Stacey and Marcus French of Howell and Christopher Brewer of Fenton; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jesse, Josiah, Jackson Levesque of Owosso, Benjamin, Hannah and Jonathan Phillips of Swartz Creek, and Andrew 'Donald' and Elaina Brewer of Owosso; sisters, Gerry Ollenburger, Joyce (Bob) Wilson, Yvonne Prince, Marla (Robert) Chadwell, Judy (Mike) Edwards, and 1 brother, Ed (Donna) Brewer.
