AUTEN, Donald Glen "Red" -- Age 83, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Flushing, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at his daughter's residence. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Wednesday, December 26 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines concluding with an honor guard service under the auspices of VFW and Amvets Post 3720. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Monday, 3-5 and 7-9 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice. Mr. Auten was born December 12, 1924 in Argentine Township the son of Glen Oscar and Lyla Lillian (King) Auten. He was a graduate of Mary Crapo High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army/Air Corps. He was a machinist and became foreman at the Buick Engine Plant retiring in 1972 with 30 years of service. He enjoyed the woods, and squirrel and deer hunting. He was a self educated man. He enjoyed history, geography, traveling everywhere and corvettes. Surving are: son David Donald Auten and wife Sharon of Mundy Township; daughter Shelia Ann Auten of Swartz Creek; four grandchildren, Stacey Phillips of Florida, David Auten Jr. and wife Tami of Mt. Morris, Sarah Theresa Arteaga of Portland, Oregon, Paul Don Victor Arteaga of Flint; one great grandchild, Aaron Phillips of Florida; mother of his children, Shirley Grebel of Flushing; brother, Orval Auten of Flint; companion Shirley Perkins of Flint.
