Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc and from 10 AM Friday until the time of the service at the church. Desiree Noreen Perkins was born July 12, 1947 in Saginaw, Mi., to Delbert Newton Turner and Virginia Eloise Conrad. She grew up in Saginaw and Fenton, Mi. and graduated from Lake Fenton High School. On April 8, 1972 she married Grant Marshall Perkins and was a devoted wife for 13 years until his death. She began her career at Michigan Bell as a telephone operator that lead into an Administrative Assistant position within the Engineering Department. She met many special, life-long friends there. After 30 years of service she retired, but not for long. She then worked for 18 years at GMI-Kettering University as an Administrative Assistant in the Management Department, Liberal Studies, Department of Business, Office of the President and International Programs. She truly enjoyed working with the students, helping the professors, and they loved working with her. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed Sunday service with her daughter and granddaughter. Spending time in her flower garden and sharing her plants with family, friends, and neighbors was a passion of hers. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren during the holidays and baking cookies to frost and decorating her curio cabinet. She loved her family with all her heart and always put their needs first. She was all our best friend and number 1 fan! Her legacy will live on in the life lessons she taught us. Surviving are her children: Sarah Perkins, Marshall (Amanda) Perkins, Howard (Mitzi Kanitz), Angela (Rodney) Mahnke; grandchildren: Paige Perkins, Evan and Luke Perkins, Chelsea, Chloe, Carey, and Claire Kanitz, Brittany Villafane, Kellie (Alex) Jeffries, and Noah Mahnke. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
