Derek Michael Deal

DEAL, Derek Michael, age 38 died unexpectedly on July 15, 2023 at his residence in Pasadena, Texas where he had resided for the past 9 years. Derek was born December 4, 1984 in Flint, Michigan, the son of William and Etter Deal. The family moved to Swartz Creek in 1990, where he attended Swartz Creek Schools, graduating in 2003. He then attended Mott Community College, earned a degree in auto body repair. He then attended the University of Northwestern Ohio where he earned a degree in diesel technology and business. Derek was creative and loved working with his hands. He had a great work ethic that followed him throughout his life. After college, Derek stayed in Lima, Ohio working for Linde Corporation as a process engineer. This led to a transfer to Baytown, Texas where he eventually landed a job with Shell Oil Company.
Derek was a true people person and could make friends easily. He had an infectious smile that had a way of lightening the room. Since his childhood, Derek always had a mischievous and adventurous spirit which led him to explore many hobbies and passions including paintball, rebuilding cars, dirt bikes, roller hockey and travel. Derek had a kind and generous heart that left an impression with everyone he came in contact with. Left to cherish Derek’s memory are his parents, William and Etter Deal of Swartz Creek, Michigan; his sister, Megan (D.J.) Trischler of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his dog, Cooper. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, coworkers and friends. Derek will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents and two aunts.
