WARD, Dennis James, age 57, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 4PM Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Friends and family may gather to reminisce from 2PM until time of service at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Wiegand will officiate. Burial will be at Bendle Cemetery in Clayton Township immediately after the service. Denny was born in Worcester, MA on August 3, 1952 to Dennis and Gloria (Gregoire) Ward and was a 1970 Graduate of Flushing High School before he honed his skills and became a master carpenter and woodworker. He obtained a patent for his FOREMOR mailbox posts and signs that can be seen throughout Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee Counties. He later changed the business name to DJ Group, Inc. Denny married Robin, the love of his life, on July 8, 2006. Denny enjoyed playing his bass guitar and singing as well as being with his family. Denny is survived by his wife Robin Ward of Flint, son, Zackery Ward of Flint, grandsons, Justin Ward of Texas and Nathan Ward of Florida; mother and step-father, Gloria and Pete Lozeau of Flushing; brother, Robert (Jane) Ward of Swartz Creek; step-son, Jason (Noreen) Briggs of Grand Blanc; step-daughter, Freyda Sugarman of FLint; mother-in-law, Roslyn Sugarman of Grand Blanc; niece, Nicole (Derrick) Allison of Swartz Creek; nephews, Ryan (Sheryl) Anderson and Keith (Laura) Anderson of Massachusetts; brother-in-law Chuck (Cindy) Sugarman of Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Hali (Rob) Klonel of California, Bronna Porzio of Florida; step-brothers, Lee (Autumn) Slankard of Chesaning, Kenny (Joy) Slankard of North Carolina, Michael (Alex) Lozeau of Florida as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by his "faithful companion" Kiko as well. Dennis was preceded in death by his father Dennis Ward, sister, Denise Cason, son, Kevin Ward, and step-brother Robert Lozeau. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hurley Medical Center for their care and support. Those wishing may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
