Dennis Gene Van Koevering

VAN KOEVERING, Dennis Gene - Age 67, passed away on August 28, 2024. Dennis was born January 18, 1957 in Grand Rapids, the son of Philip and Sharon (Whittington) Van Koevering. He completed a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, magna cum laude, at Wayne State University in 1984. While working as a Chemical Engineer at Dow Corning, he was awarded numerous patents and retired after 30 years. Dennis began a love for music as a child and became a talented musician. His passion was singing, but also enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. He was the Music Director for St. John’s Episcopal Church in Midland for over 15 years. He also spent many years performing with his daughter, Leigh. Dennis was an avid Bridge player and competed in many tournaments. He is survived by his children, Leigh (Shawn) Latchford and James (Tracy) Van Koevering and their mother, Trudy Winstanley; his grandchildren, Isabel, Lily Beth and Liam; his mother, Sharon Van Koevering; and sisters, Sheryl Van Koevering and Cathy (Steve) Riley. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip, and his brother, Douglas. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
