Dennis Olson

OLSON, Dennis Ernest- Age 78,  of Swartz Creek, died Saturday February 19, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday February 24, at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Dan Bowman, officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 6PM-8PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and 10AM until time of service at the church on Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Dennis was born June 5, 1943 in Houghton County, Michigan, the son of Ernest Alexander and Ellen Miriam (Maki) Olson. Dennis married Sharon Boone in Flint, April 5, 1969. Denny was a true Yooper, growing up in Hancock, MI. He graduated from Hancock High School in 1961. He moved to Flint and  retired from General Motors, Fisher Body of Grand Blanc with 31 years of service. Dennis enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, woodworking and fishing. He was an active member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's school and sports activities. He made friends wherever he went and loved to tell his stories.  Surviving are: wife of 52 years, Sharon of Swartz Creek; daughters, Jenny (Jerry) Thomas of Davisburg, Kim (Jeremy) Trotter of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Alex, Luke, Alaina, Lauren; brother, Duane (Connie) Olson of Iron Mountain; two nephews, Ryan and Evan Olson and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ellen Olson; infant grandson, William and sister, Maryellen Olson. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
