HANSEN, Dennis Matthew - Age 49, of Fenton, died June 23, 2022. A memorial service to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be held from 12 PM until the time of service.
Dennis was born August 18, 1972, in Flint, Michigan to John Douglas Hansen and Judith Rae (Hereau) Hansen. He grew up in Fenton, was a 1990 graduate of Fenton High School and attended Ferris State University for a time. Dennis acquired a wide range of skills and experience working in Wisconsin and Minnesota after graduating but found his true success working in sales alongside his father in his father’s business. There he learned the industrial heat-treating trade and honed his sales and negotiation skills. He made his home in Ft. Wayne for many years as the company’s key sales representative in Indiana before moving back to Michigan to be closer to family.
Dennis was funny and engaging, with an easy manner that drew everyone in. He was generous to a fault. He liked to learn about things and had numerous interests and hobbies. He loved sports and was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan outside of Texas - even in years when he shouldn’t have been. He shared his dad’s passion for auto racing and classic cars, looking forward to races at Michigan Speedway each year. Den was a skilled billiards player from an early age and enjoyed playing for fun - and money - often winning local and regional tournaments where he lived. He was also known to make a quick stop at any casino along the way. Den enjoyed collecting, too - baseball cards, die cast cars, Cowboys and racing memorabilia and most recently coins. To relax, he loved to watch movies and series and always had great recommendations that were on the mark every time. He could recite dialogue from any Seinfeld episode at the drop of a hat…verbatim. He adored animals of all kinds and treasured his cats, Tango and Cash, whom he loved like children.
Over the years Dennis relished the time he spent together with his family on annual visits to the Upper Peninsula and at the family cottage on Mullett Lake. He was everyone’s favorite renegade boat captain and resident pyrotechnic during the summer and enjoyed long snowmobiling weekends in the winter. He had a way of making things fun without trying. He was loved by and will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his mother, Judith Hansen of Fenton, sister Victoria (Klayton) Dillon of Novi, nephew David Dillon and niece Kendall Dillon, former spouse Christy Hamilton of Prescott, WI and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hansen.
