Deloris Schafer

May 25, 1932 — May 12, 2007

SCHAFER,  "Gean", age 74, longtime resident of Flint's East side, died at home, Saturday, May 12, 2007.  She was born in Evart, Michigan, May 25, 1932 daughter of Amos and Arwilda (Ballard) Burge.  Mrs. Schafer had worked several years at Goodwill Industries and later worked as a Hospitality Sargent for the Salvation Army.  She is survived by 8 children:  Bobbygean Chapman, Kim Brown, Patrick R. Schafer, Timothy J. Schafer (Dawn), Billy Ray Schafer (Rhonda), Linda K. Schafer, Kevin J. Schafer (Sharon), and Toby L. Schafer (Christina).  Also 26 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Arlene Lafayette, Evelyn Burns, Latona Dawson, Regina Lafayette and a brother, Jim Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1998 and also a brother Charles Burge and a sister June Cook.   Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp.  Major Henry Tempel will officiate and burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday. The family wants to give their special thanks to "Big Brother" Jack McDowell for all he has done for them.
