Dean Bruce COURTS

COURTS, Dean Bruce -- Age 86, of Gaines, died April 19, 2012 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Tuesday April 24 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Visitation 12-3 and 6-9 PM Monday, 1 PM until the time of the service Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice. Mr. Courts was born December 30, 1925 in Flint the son of Ernest and Edith (Davis) Courts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He married Theresa Elaine Aldridge in 1947; she preceded him in death in 2007. He was a City of Flint Firefighter for 20 years and served as a union steward. He worked as a stagehand with Local 201 for over 50 years. He was active in Gaines Village Government. Mr. Courts was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman. He enjoyed poker, playing cards, carpentry and woodworking. He was a good family man. Surviving are: three children, Guy Courts and wife Debra of Davison, Rebecca Joseph of Vernon, Kelly and husband Jim Miller of Portage; six grandchildren Todd Courts, Amanda Courts, Guy Courts II, John Joseph, Matthew Miller, and Jack Miller; several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Theresa; two brothers, Bob and Bill; and three sisters, Bernice, Evelyn, and Ila.
