SCHOENFIELD, David L "Dave" - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Friday September 27, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka Celebrant. Visitation will be held 11AM-8PM Thursday with a K of C Rosary at 7PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road. Visitation will also be held 10AM until time of mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Dave was born September 6, 1936 in Flint, the son of Roy and Margaret (Teninty)Schoenfield. Dave attended Grand Blanc High School and graduated in 1954. He served in the Marine Corp from 1956 to 1959 active duty and 1959 to 1962 as a reserve. Dave married Patricia Spaniola on June 10, 1960 and together they had 7 children. He worked in the Sheet Metal trade and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 533 and served as the Business Manager for 7 years. Dave worked for Ferro Fab, Ben Agree, and Dee Cramer and Thermal Systems. He retired from the trade in 1997. After retirement he worked for Lowery Trailer Supplies. Dave was a member of the Swartz Creek Area Jaycees working on many community projects. He held several positions including that of District Vice President and State Chaplin. Dave coached little league baseball for years in Swartz Creek. Dave was a very active member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church serving as Eucharist Minister, Lector and Greeter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6694 achieving 4th Degree status. He served as the Chairman for the annual Tootsie Roll Drive for the past few years and initiated the Reverse Collection food drive and from September 2016 through August 2019, there was 17,957 lbs of food and supplies collected for the Swartz Creek Community Food Basket. Dave enjoyed golfing (serving as the league secretary until this year), bowling, camping and hunting, with his favorite pastime being the restoration of his 1957 Chevy Belaire. In August 2018, Dave and all four of his sons drove his ’57 Chevy down Route 66 to attend Hot August Summer Nights Car Show in Reno, NV. Dave was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, Godfather and friend. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and had a knack for building and fixing things. When you met Dave, you had a friend for life. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Surviving are: wife, Patricia Spaniola Schoenfield; children, Brett (Claire) Schoenfield, Deeann Schoenfield, David (Dee Dee) Schoenfield, Timm (Kristen) Schoenfield, Mark (Michelle) Schoenfield, Joette (Stuart) Schisler; grandchildren, Dan Caskey, Matthew (Christin) Caskey; Sinjin (Catie) Schoenfield, Logan (Chelsea) Schoenfield, Jaylen Schoenfield, Dakota Schoenfield, Darby Schoenfield, Jenna Schoenfield, Campbell Schoenfield, Kelly Jimeno-Hensen, Alexa Schoenfield, Sydney Schisler, Sawyer Schisler; great grandsons Tyler Caskey and Wyatt Caskey; sister, Beverly D’Angelo. Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Gena Schoenfield; parents, Roy Schoenfield and Margaret Marra; sister, Janet Monroe and brother, John Schoenfield; father and mother-in-law Paul and Leona Spaniola.
