David Lee Sands

SANDS, David Lee -- Age 75, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his residence. Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Faith Missionary Church, 1327 N. Elms Rd., Flint, Rev. Tom Knight officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan Hospice. Mr. Sands was born March 23, 1931 in Morgantown, WV, the son of William and Ida (Volk) Sands. He was married to Dona Rae McKnight. He had resided in Swartz Creek for 25 years before moving to Bradenton, Florida, and just recently returned to Swartz Creek. He was a pattern maker all of his life and retired from General Motors. He was a devoted union member and officer of the Pattern Makers League. Surviving are: wife Dona; three sons, David and wife Kathryn of Swartz Creek, Mark of Flushing, Brent and wife Ronel of Swartz Creek; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William and wife Virginia of Chatanooga, TN.
