David Bruce Rhyndress

RHYNDRESS, David Bruce, age 79, of Fenton, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. A funeral service will take place 11:30 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Scott Statson will officiate with burial following in Great Lakes National Cemetery with military honors present. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 4, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project. 

David was born on May 11, 1944 in Flint the son of the late Clare and Ruby (Williamson) Rhyndress. He graduated from Flint Southwestern, class of 1962. David proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He worked as a deputy for the Genesee County Sheriff's Department for 22 years before his retirement in 2002. David and Lynn Fletcher were united in marriage on June 26, 1976 in Flint. Together they owned and operated the Fenton Cab Company back in the 80's. He was a true musician from playing the piano, singing and playing in a band. David was also artistic and loved drawing and woodworking. He loved bowling with his fellow deputies, golfing, hunting and most recently riding his Harley and Can-Am Spider with is wife driving around the country roads. David will be missed by many. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lynn Rhyndress; children, Jason Merritt, Amanda Hughes and Brandala Day; five grandchildren, Selena Brooks, Caden Day, Haley Day, Barron Mesarosh and Devyn Mesarosh; one great-grandson on the way; sister, Paula (Fred) Narrin; and brother, Richard (Martha) Rhyndress.
