LEVENSON, David, O.D. -- Age 89, of Grand Blanc, died May 15, 2012 at Brians House Hospice, Davison. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday, May 18 at Temple Beth El, 5150 Calkins Rd., Flint, Rabbi Karen Companez officiating. Interment in Machpelah Cemetery, Flint. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Flint Jewish Federation or Temple Beth El. David was born April 30, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, the son of Isaac and Sarah (Schall) Levenson. He was a member of the Northern High School Athletic Association State Championship teams in basketball "The Golden Boys" in 1938-39 and 1939-40. He was a 1940 Graduate of Northern High School and attended U or M, Ann Arbor. He met Sylvia Ragir, the love of his life, on the steps of Angell Hall in Ann Arbor. They married on July 29, 1945 in Grand Rapids. He was a 1945 graduate of the Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN. He was a practicing Optometrist in Flint for over 50 years. He was a member or the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomat in the Contact Lens section of the American Academy of Optometry. He was a member of Temple Beth El. He was an avid golfer and former member of Atlas Valley Country Club, Willowood Golf Club, Warwick Hills Country Club, and Flint Golf Club. He was a great dancer and had a wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Sylvia; three children, Diane and husband John Lindholm of Grand Blanc, Janet and husband Daniel Hoffman of Greenwood Village, CO, Ian Levenson and wife Elizabeth of Cherry Hills Village, CO; six grandchildren, Stephen Lindholm and wife Julie Keller, Sarah and husband Reed Weily, Jessica and husband Matthew Brylo, Uri Hoffman, Alexandra Levenson, Zachary Levenson; many dear friends and extended family; and his patients who he always considered family.
