David R. O'NEILL

O'NEILL, David R. "Froggy" - age 64, Grand Blanc, died June 8, 2011, at home, with family, and his beloved italian greyhound Heidi, as a result of pulmonary disease. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, June 11, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach St., Flint. Fr. Frederick Taggart Celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint, with a Rosary at 7 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Whaley Children's Center or Last Chance Animal Rescue. Dave was born May 9, 1947 in Flint, the son of Russell O'Neil and Clois (Gillies) O'Neil. He graduated from Bentley High School in 1965, worked for General Motors and enjoyed his retirement traveling, scuba diving, spending time with family and earned and used a builder's license. He was an avid scuba diver who made thousands of dives, served on the Genesee County Sheriff Search and Rescue, became a dive instructor. He was a member of St Matthew Parish in Flint, and taught the Pastor to scuba dive. He married Patricia Gooch April 3, 1966, they were married twenty one years and had three beloved daughters. Dave married Kathleen Buckley on February 2, 1996. Surviving are: wife, Kathleen Buckley-O'Neill; daughters, Melissa (Richard) Stanfield of Morrisville NC, Teresa (Jim) Osieczonek of Lansing, MI, and Kathy (Will) Jones of Dyersburg TN; grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Stanfield, Laura (Isaiah) Drungo, Amador Jones, Alyshia Jones, Mali Jones and Cody Jones; granddogs, Bailey, Molly, YogiBear, Oliver; brother to, Kenneth (Cheryle) O'Neil of Davison, Patricia (Bill) Gooch and Shirl O'Neil.
