MITCHELL, David R., Sr. - age 76, of Swartz Creek, died suddenly, Monday, September 3, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 12 PM Friday, September 7, 2007 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. J.D. Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held 3-5 and 6-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. David was born February 1, 1931 in Brown City, MI, the son of Russell J. and Grace (Finley) Mitchell. He married Priscilla Massey on August 20, 1949 in Flint. David was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Postal Executive with the U.S. Postal Service in Flint. He was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, a charter member of Federal Employee Credit Union of Flint, Charter member, past commander, financial officer of Federal Employee American Legion Post. He was active in several committees at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, past scout master of Boy Scout Troop 35 of Swartz Creek and was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. Surviving are: wife, Priscilla; three sons, David R., Jr. and wife, Sheila of Hilliard, OH, Richard L. and wife, Suzanne of Gaines, Robert D. and wife, Kimberly of Corunna; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James R. and wife, Sue of Flint.
