LUTEY, David George - age 84, of Holly, died Friday, March 8, 2019. A memorial service will be held 1 PM Monday, March 11, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., with Rev. Christine Wachendorfer officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 1 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House. David was born July 14, 1934 in Lansing, the son of George and Doris (Helgemo) Lutey. He was a 1953 graduate of Linden High School and had attended Flint Junior College and Michigan State University. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War Era. He married Carol Merlo on February 26, 1982. David was a well known home builder in the area, a past president of the Linden Kiwanis Club and a past member of the Linden School Board. He loved his work, was a talented finish carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are: wife, Carol of Holly; three sons, Scott (Kelly) Lutey of Iron Mountain, Timothy Lutey of Grand Blanc, and Michael Harned of Clarkston; three daughters, Jennifer Smith of Fenton, Beth (Tom) Bertschy of Fenton and Anna Lutey (Nic Hunt) of Brighton; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Christopher (Roxanne) Lutey of Williamsburg, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Lutey of Indiana. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Samuel Lutey; his dog and beloved companion, Lizzy. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
