David L. Taylor, while surrounded by his family, was called home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 after complications from routine surgery.
David met the love of his life, Bonnie (Macaulay), and they married in October 1967. Together they built a house in Montrose, Michigan and had three children. David prioritized family and passed on his love of music to each of his children.
Although he had a love for animals, David gave up farming and after two years in the Army, he attended college. He became a master electrician, member of the UAW, and eventually retired from General Motors after working 40+ years. He loved muscle cars, old tractors, and working with his hands. David was an inventor, focusing his attention on finding solutions even when it meant creating something new to solve the problem. In 2001, David earned his contractor license and built a beautiful new home for his wife in Swartz Creek, Michigan.
David loved to discuss the Bible and share God’s love with others. His mornings were dedicated to prayer, bible study, and beginning each day in the presence of God. His faith grew stronger in the final years of his life. David was a member of Trinity Assembly of God, in Mt. Morris, for 34 years. Those that knew him would remember his quick wit and laughter which was only outmatched by his heart.
As his family grew, David’s grandchildren were a constant source of pride. He valued spending time with each grandchild and spoiled them at every opportunity.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Taylor; two sons Timothy Taylor and Steven (Sharon) Taylor; daughter Christine (Michael) Sackrider; grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Austin (Rebecca) Taylor, Kaitlynn Taylor, Lydia Taylor, David Sackrider, Daniel Sackrider, Rob Odykirk, Jakob Taylor, and Elizabeth Taylor; four siblings; Nancy Krienbrink, Exie McKone, Daniel Taylor, Mark (Kathy) Taylor, and brother-in-law Duane Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents; Milford and Betty (Tufts) Taylor; brother-in-laws Leo Krienbrink and Jack McKone, sister Kay Bell, and sister-in-law Geraldine Taylor.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, November 8th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. A funeral service to celebrate David’s life will be held on November 9th at 11:00 AM at the same location. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
