SMITH, David J. -- Age 67 of Swartz Creek died Friday, January 29, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8183 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 4PM-8PM Monday evening. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Fallen Heroes Fund. David was born September 7, 1948 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Channing Drake and Mary Jeane (Maple) Smith. He married Suzanne Gay Cooper on November 21, 1969 in Flint. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Flint Northern High School Class of 1966. He resided in Flushing for many years and moved to Swartz Creek in 2000. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Company as a Sales Associate after 35 years of service. David attended Mott College and enjoyed playing sports, hunting and fishing. Surviving are wife Suzanne of Hazel Park; daughter Michelle of Royal Oak; sister, Cynthia Gebhardt of FL; nephews Timothy Toporek and Tony (Angie) Toporek; great nieces and nephews.
