HOPPER, David A. -- Age 68, of Swartz Creek, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 3, 2004. Mr. Hopper was born in Detroit on September 3, 1935 the son of Benjamin A. and Mattie L. (Estes) Hopper. He and Linda Robinson were married in Flint in 1974. David retired in 1995 from General Motors, Metal Fabricating Plant after 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was devoted to his family and loved to be with his grandchildren. Surviving are: wife Linda; 4 children, Scott Hopper and fiancâ?se Kim, Jeff Hopper and wife Athena, Lisa Crandall and husband Steve, Jennifer Lundgren and husband Ryan; nine grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Samantha, Kelcie, Courtney, Logan, Greg, Jason, and Melisa; his mother-in-law, Tessie Yakin; four sisters, Betty Beers and husband Ken, Carol Lannon and husband Tom, Patricia Gitchell and husband Phil, Vickie Garza and husband Thomas; one brother, Thomas Hopper and wife Joan; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be 1 PM Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Jim Nelson will officiate and burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors at graveside will be presented by the Marine Corps League, Flint Detachment. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Monday, and 12-9 PM Tuesday. Memorial gifts in Mr. Hopper's name may be offered to the First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek .
