David Lee HAYES

June 14, 1945 — February 10, 2010

HAYES, David Lee - Age 64, of Grand Blanc, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Saturday, 3-9 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint and from 9 AM until the time of mass Monday at church. A rosary will be recited at 6 PM Sunday. David was born June 14, 1945 in Trenton, NJ, the son of Gordon and Marcella (Lawrence) Hayes. He was raised in Ohio and moved to Michigan in 1967. He retired from Buick with 31 years of service as an electrician. David dedicated his life to the development of boys as Scoutmaster of Troop 279. He had a positive influence on hundreds of young men over the 35 years he gave to scouting. He was awarded the Silver Beaver from the Tall Pine Council for his commitment and dedication to Boy Scouts. David will be remembered most as a mentor, educator and guide. He was never short on advice, encouragement or hugs. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Kathy; son, David P.L. Hayes and wife Kathy; step-daughter, Jennifer Supol VanNorwick and husband Ken; step-son, Tim Supol and wife Katie Kroulik; grandchildren, Nikolas and Sarah Hayes, Grace and Kate VanNorwick. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to McLaren Visiting Nurses and Hospice or Tall Pine Council. The family extends a special thank you to McLaren Visiting Nurses and Hospice, especially, Patti, Lynn, Lisa, Tonya, Lonna and Paula.
