David was born October 2, 1943 in Ionia, the son of late Phillip Otto and Colleen Ruth (Walsh) Ayers. He graduated from Ionia High School and attended Ferris University. David was proud to serve his country in the United States Army. He enlisted on December 14, 1962 as a Supply Clerk, he was honorably discharged on December 6, 1965 as a Specialist (E4). His time was enjoyed while serving in Germany. He held a card as a journeyman electrician in the IBEW and in 1985 took an Electrical Inspector position with the State of Michigan, from which he retired 2008.

David enjoyed watching all sports especially hockey (Red Wings) and NASCAR racing (unless the Toyotas were winning). Not only was David fond of watching racing, he also spent many years working on race cars with his brothers. Yard work and landscaping were passions of David. He never stopped thinking of new products to do around the house, even when he was directed by his daughters to stay off ladders and not to do too much. David's greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and hosting family gatherings. There were countless "Grillin' and Chillin'" moments happening at Ayers Acres.

David and his family spent many summers vacationing around Michigan. Walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day will always be a fond memory of the family.

He will be greatly missed by Daughters, Amy(Greg) Granger and Brandy (James) Waite; grandchildren, Courtany, Bradley, Chase (Savanah), Stephanie, Allison, Celia, Ryan (Jodi); great grandchildren, Hailey, Cali, Memphis, Henley, Joslynn, Sarah, Isabella, and Ryleigh, mother, Colleen Ayers, brothers and sisters Doug (Vicki) Ayers, Luann (Doug) Gould, Misty Ayers, and Jeff Ayers.

David was preceded in death by: his wife, Brenda, father, brothers Philip L. Ayers and Mark Ayers, granddaughter, Cassondra; and great grandson, Zane. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
