Daniel Waterbury

Daniel Waterbury passed away peaceful at home on May 5, 2023, surrounded by family.

Dan was born on April 7, 1945, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the third of nine children born to Jerry Jack Waterbury and Eva Shurlow. Dan graduated from Pinckney High School in 1964 and went to work at the GM V8 Engine Plant in Flint, where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement.

Dan proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1966-1968, where he earned two Purple Hearts after being seriously injured in combat. His military unit also earned the Valorous Unit Citation, the second highest award bestowed on a military unit, during the Tet Offensive.

When Dan returned home from Vietnam he met and married the love of his life, Mary Flock. They married on August 6, 1971 in Detroit, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021.

Dan loved to fish and hunt and spent hours of every day during nice weather on his boat on Wiggins Lake with his family and fishing buddies.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Mary; daughters Bethany Waterbury (Chris Garwood), Becky Waterbury, and Megan Waterbury; grandchildren Sullivan and Sebastian Klus, and Ellie Garwood; and a sister, Barbara Line.

Dan is predeceased by his parents, siblings Joyce Hoch, Carl Waterbury, Lynn Waterbury, Marvin Waterbury, Nancy Waterbury, Michael Waterbury, and Luther Waterbury.

Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, May11 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be 10AM until the time of the service at 11 AM on Thursday May 11. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to McLaren Hospice, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison, MI 48423.
