Daniel Hurd

HURD, Lieutenant Commander Daniel E., USN, Retired - Age 68, of Linden, died January 20, 2019. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Friday, January 25, 2019 at Linden Free Methodist Church, 13274 Linden Rd., Linden. Pastor Bill Moull and Pastor Randy Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-6 & 7-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to the family for his grandchildren's continuing education and mission trips. Daniel was born May 5, 1950 in Alexandria, LA, the son of Charles D. and Grace E. (Collins) Hurd. He retired from the U.S. Navy where he served in the Vietnam War and Persian Gulf War. Mr. Hurd was a member of Linden Free Methodist Church and had served as Associate Pastor for a year and a half. His service was to God, his country and family. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Michael (Amy) Hurd, Gregory (Marla) Hurd, Timothy (Yvonne) Hurd, Terisa (Jason) Boyce; nine grandchildren (from youngest to oldest), Heidi, Tytus, Emily, Emma, Hannah, Sarah, Ryan, Rebecca and Rachel; mother, Grace (Melvin) Vickroy; sisters, Dianne (Doug) Jordan, Debra (Tim) Myers; step-brothers, Ron (Rita) Vickroy, Kevin (Donna) Vickroy; step-sister, Cindy Heiser; many nieces and nephews.
