Daniel R. Helmer

HELMER, Daniel R. - age 75 of Flint Twp., died November 17, 2023.  A memorial service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. The family will receive friends form 9 AM - 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital of Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org). Daniel was born July 14, 1948, in Flint, the son of Russell and Beverly (Hart) Helmer. He married Patricia Cross on June 8, 1974, and she preceded him in death on September 2, 2015. Mr. Helmer retired from Kettering University after 30 plus years of service in Maintenance. He was a member of Flushing United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriner's Clown Unit. Surviving are: son, Jeffrey (April) Helmer of Kentucky; daughter, Jamie (Scott) Hoffman of Swartz Creek; five grandchildren, Sean Helmer, Aubrey (Wesley) Harper, Allison Helmer, Lucas Helmer, and Brett Hoffman; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Janet) Helmer of Arizona; a niece and many nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Russell and Beverly Helmer; wife, Patricia Helmer; and grandson, Andrew Helmer. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
