Dan Leffler

LEFFLER, Dan - Age 81, of Swartz Creek, passed away August 20, 2021. A memorial service will be held 12PM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8497 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 11AM until the time of service. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Dan was born April 24, 1940 in Flint, the son of Chris and Glenola Leffler. He graduated from Flint Central in 1959, where he was active in sports. Dan was a veteran of the US Navy from 1961-1963, serving on the USS Porterfield DD682. Following his time in the service, he went to Michigan State, earning a degree in Civil Engineering in 1969. In 1979, he obtained his professional engineering license. Dan was a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He worked for SSOE for 30 years, serving as a manager and project manager in the structural engineering department. He also served on the planning board of Mundy Township for five years. Dan and Judy were married on May 29, 1971. Together they enjoyed traveling, cruising and attending Detroit Pistons games. Dan loved his family and his dogs. His favorite pastime was working on his cars, especially his Porsche. He is survived by his wife, Judy; beloved daughter, Danielle; three sisters, Marcia and John Gatza, Sharon and Dave Jensen, Karen Earle; nine nieces and nephews.
