Dallas Sparks

SPARKS, Dallas ? Age 72 of Swartz Creek, died, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at his home.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.  Pastor Chad Montague officiating.  Burial immediately following at Sunset Hills Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8PM and Thursday from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM.  Those desiring may make contributions to The American Cancer Society.  Dallas was born April 27, 1936 in Flagpond, TN, the son of Herman and Bethel (Shelton) Sparks.  He married Lorraine Sedlak on April 19, 1958 in St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek.  He has resided in the Flint area since 1955 coming from Flagpond, TN.  Dallas retired from 36 years at Chevrolet V8 Engine in 1991, was a volunteer at the Swartz Creek Fire Department for 17 ½ years and a member of UAW Local #659.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.  Surviving are: wife, Lorraine of Swartz Creek; 4 children: Ronald (Tina) Sparks of Swartz Creek, Robert (Shawn) Sparks of Astor, FL, Lori (Paul) Howlett of Erwin, TN, Gregory (Michelle) Sparks of Flint; 7 grandchildren: Michael Hale, Jason (Heather) Hale, Ronald Sparks, Tami (Eric) Dell, Steven Howlett, Michelle Simon, Dallas (Ashlee) Sparks; 5 great grandchildren, Caleb, Sophie ?his little trophy gal?, Degan, McKayla, and McKenzie; 4 siblings in Tennessee, Faye Edwards, Clarence (Mary) Sparks, Donald (Marjorie) Sparks, Edward (Brenda) Sparks; many nieces and nephews.
