Dale "Chubs" Smith

Smith, Dale Eugene "Chubs" - Age 78, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Oxford, died October 14, 2022. Dale was born September 23, 1944 in Oxford, the son of Frank B. and Emma Etta (Miles) Smith. He married Catherine Swinehart in Hadley on June 9, 1967. Dale served his country proudly in The United States Army serving in the Vietnam. He worked for Department of Public Works in Oxford for 30 years before retiring in 1996. Dale was a member of The American Legion in Oxford and The Elks Club in Tawas. Dale and Cathie retired to Tawas for 16 years coming to Grand Blanc in 2016. Dale was friendly, he always had a wave and a smile. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and cruising in his El Camino. Dale also enjoyed family hunting trips,  golf and traveling, especially on cruises.  He was very fond of the 20 years he and Cathie were “snowbirds” in Florida.  He enjoyed doing word searches and watching National Geographic and History Channels.   Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine; daughters, Amber (Will) Slusher of Westland,  Aimee (Joe) Moore of Kingwood, TX.; grandchildren, Jason and Justin Slusher, Joey, Jake, Jane and Emily Moore; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Linda Smith and Dona Jenks. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank B. "Smitty" and Emma Etta Smith; brothers, Kenneth "Moose" Smith, Keith Smith, Ted Smith, R. Bruce "Skeeter" Smith. Services will be held 3 PM Monday, October 17 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. There will be military honors at the conclusion of the service.  (The service may be viewed by Live stream on Dale's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com) Visitation will be held 2 PM Monday, October 17 until the time of the service at the funeral home.  The family is hosting a gathering following the service at the American Legion Post 108 in Oxford.
