Dale Barker

September 23, 1930 — March 20, 2018

BARKER, Dale M. - age 87, formerly of Fenton, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Dale was born September 23, 1930 near Kirksville, Missouri and attended school in Brashear, Missouri. Where his father and half brother owned and operated BARKER'S garage for many years and also where Dale learned the automobile business. He married Lia (Steele) Barker (deceased) in 1948 and they had three wonderful children, Stephen (Kristina), Janice (Barker) Detrich (deceased) and Dane (Ann) Barker. All three children attended and gradated from Fenton High School and enjoyed many happy times during those years. Dale worked in Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealerships in Missouri and Iowa before moving to Fenton, Michigan in 1954 to become employed by Oldsmobile Division of General Motors at their Milford, Michigan Testing and Proving Grounds. There, he became a Supervisor and then promoted to General Supervisor of Oldsmobile Experimental Testing and eventually became General Supervisor of Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac operations before retiring in 1986. In 1976 Dale and his son Dan owned and operated an outdoor power equipment business on N. Leroy St. in Fenton B&B POWERHOUSE. In 1987 Dale began working with his son, Steve's Real Estate business in management, leasing, maintenance and consulting where he continued to work for the next 28 years. Over the years, Dale owned many properties in the area that he either built, remodeled or lived in and loved (THE BARN!) with all the wildlife. In 1994, Dale married Joy Ann (Podjun) Barker (deceased) and has three step-children, Sherrie (Mike) Deason, Christopher (MaryAnn) Podjun, and Stacy (Kim) Podjun. He also leaves five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
