MARTENS, Diane Judith "Judy" - age 85, of Fenton, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Faussett Rd, Howell with Fr. Gregg Pleiness celebrant. Interment of cremated remains will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday at the church. Judy was born January 10, 1933 in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of Allan and Mary (Falasz) Hansen. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts & Sciences degree from the University of Illinois and a member of the Pi Delta Phi Honor Society while there. Judy married William Frederick Martens, Jr. on July 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1989. She was a very active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church for over 40 years. She volunteered first with the Parish Outreach which transitioned to St. Vincent de Paul. She was member of the Sisterhood of Catholic Women, a Eucharist Minister and Lector since the 1980s, member of the Prayer Chain for 31 years, lead and participated in many bible studies and helped with the funeral dinners at the parish. Judy served on the Deerfield Township Board of Review for 25+ years, was a American Red Cross Volunteer and practiced Tai Chi and lead many Tai Chi classes. She was an avid collector of antiques for over 40 years. Judy was the Crew Chief for BSDRT Sports Car Road Racing team and was also an on-track race official serving as a Turn Marshall and Corner Captain for 15+ years and also a member of the Michigan Turn Marshalls. Surviving are: three children, Kathleen Martens, David Martens and Pamela Herold; five grandchildren, CJ Espina, Rhenee Mejia, Carolyn Martens, Daniel Martens and Leia Espina; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Mejia; brother, Farreol Hansen of Arkansas.
