February 18, 1934 — October 3, 2020

MCCREE, Cynthia Mae (Jones) - Age 86, of Flint, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020. Graveside service will take place at 1 PM, Friday, October 9, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Pastor Latrelle Holmes will officiate and Tiffany Thomas will sing one of Cynthia's favorite selections. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.

Cynthia was born on February 18, 1934, in Flint, the daughter of Clyde William Jones Gardner and Willa Mae (Hill) Jones. She graduated from Flint Central High School. Cynthia attended cosmetology school. Following her education she worked as a cosmetology instructor for 29 years at the Skill Center in Flint. She was a fixture at the American House North. Cynthia was a member of the Michigan Education Association, Red Hat Society, Big Sister and a Mary Kay Distributor. In her free time she enjoyed hair, makeup, nails, adult coloring, crafting and playing board games.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Jordan McCree III and Bryan (Marcia) McCree; 6 grandchildren, Derrick McCree, Jacob Peel, Danée McCree, Jordan Frey-McCree, Bryan McCree II and Camille Barclay; 3 great-grandchildren, Dmitri McCree II, Brooklyn McCree and Marleigh McCree; 2 sisters, Linda Russey and Brenda Adams; brother, Eddie Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and god-daughters.

Cynthia was preceded in death by son, Vincent J. McCree; grandson, Dmitri McCree; father, Clyde William Jones Gardner; mother, Willa Mae (Hill) Jones; step-mother, Alberta Gardner; 3 sisters, Laverne Paterson, Shirley Diane Tucker and Vivian Holmes; 3 brothers, Clyde William Jones, Donald Jones and Robert Gardner; special friend and life partner, Councilman Johnnie Tucker; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to our port in the storm, Nathan's Place and their wonderful staff, the Medical Team Hospice for their honesty and uplifting team of caregivers and support staff, and finally, to Dr. Kevin Youngs and the staff at Grand Blanc Family Medicine for their compassionate and expert medical care.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in our time of need! Whether it be helping to pack up and move mother’s belongings out of her apartment or preparing food for Marcia and I. Or just the simple phone calls and text from our family and friends letting us know that they are there if we need them.

Thank you to the honorable Judge Barkey and the Genesee County Probate Court for their compassion, kindness and helpfulness.

Thank you to the staff at American House North for watching out for Cynthia for the last 14 years. She cherished her time with you all.
