Curvin John NELSON

NELSON, Curvin John -- Age 79, of Swartz Creek, died January 12, 2010 at the Pines of Lake Fenton. Services will be 1 PM Saturday, January 16 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 6380 Beecher Rd., Flint, Pastors Richard Starr and Steven Lockman officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and 12 Noon until the time of the service Saturday at church. Contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church or the Rankin Lions Club Food Bank Donation Program. Mr. Nelson was born June 22, 1930 in Grand Blanc the son of Carl F. and Anna Laura (Fry) Nelson. He married Martha L. Baker October 22, 1949 in Swartz Creek; she preceded him in death June 13, 2008. Mr. Nelson retired from Albert Chevrolet. He was an active member of the Rankin Lions Club and Emanuel Lutheran church. Surviving are: four children, Christina (Dave) Scharrer of Fenton, Mark (Cindi) Nelson of Corunna, Rebecca "Becki" (Jeff) Miller of Grandville, Deborah (Larry) Sachs of Monroe; nine grandchildren, David (Jami) Scharrer Jr., Amy (Matt) Moeller, Michael (Brooke) Scharrer, Kim (Stan) Zondervan, Emily (Jeremy) VanVeelan, Bethany (Brad) Kopal, Bonnie Whitaker, Leanne Miller, Daniel Miller; step-grandchildren, Staphnie Miller, Todd Sutton (Val Freeman), Jeff Sutton; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Berneda Baker, Leon Baker, Phil and Adelaide Alexander, Hope Nelson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Evan Nelson, Virginia Baumbach, Howard Nelson, Gaylord Nelson, Carl Nelson, Larry Nelson, and Ruth Alexander.
