Corby Bruton

Corby Lewis-Thaxton Bruton of Montrose age 48 passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 14th 2023 at his home he had built with his bare hands for his family.  A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1-4 PM at Rustic Meadows (formerly Tafoya Hall) 8245 New Lothrop Road, New Lothrop.
Corby was born on February 23, 1975 in Flint, MI to parents of Charles & Darlene Bruton. He was raised and resided in Montrose, MI. He attended Hill-McCloy high school and graduated in 1994. After graduation, he started his own lawn care and snow removal company in which remains ongoing today.
In 1998, Corby married his high school sweetheart Jayna DuBois currently: Jayna Miller and the couple had two children. In Montrose, MI they raised their children in a home he built just across the street from both of their parents. Corby enjoyed spending his time with family and friends; but always putting his daughter and son’s best interests first. Corby was the best father one could ask for. The joy and laughter he brought into so many lives will always be in our hearts and live on forever. He was a good soul, he led by example and wanted the best for his loved ones. Corby would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He lived each day to make a memory; whether that be acting silly at dinner, instigating a wresting match or a spontaneous trip to Leota with the ATV’s. He worked so hard throughout his life and in that achieved so much. Corby also enjoyed gambling at the casino whenever he could even if it was just to go use his free room and relax in the pool. His prized possession is his 1967 Mustang that him and his father restored as this was his first vehicle at 16. He will forever be missed and loved.
He is survived by his children: Haley and Trevor Bruton; parents, Charles and Darlene Bruton. Siblings, Brother Charles and Karen Bruton, Brother Chad and Rhonda Bruton, Brother in law Joseph and Dayna DuBois, Sister in law Ja’nae and Justin Woodward, Sister in law Janel Caughlin & Mitch Biggs, Brother in law Terran DuBois; Cousins, Bridget Finkelburg & husband Aaron, Sarah Ludens, Jennifer and Steve Mullins; Nieces & Nephews, Logan & Blake Bruton, Wendel & Katie Bruton, John Mahl & Jayce Woodward, Joseph DuBois III, Brennan DuBois, Noah DuBois & Maliyah DuBois; Life long best friend, Luke Watson & his two daughters.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Ralph & Georgene Maharg, Grandparents Jewel & Eula May Bruton, Aunt LouAnn Maharg, Uncle Ted Smith, and Uncle Everett Maharg.
