PEABODY, Constance (Connie) Josephine (McCabe) age 89, died on March 16, 2012. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton with Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will be at a family ceremony at a later date. Visitation will be at St. John's Church 12:30 PM until the funeral mass.Connie was born in Windsor, Ontario October 13, 1922 daughter of Dr. L.G. and Teresa (Roesler) McCabe. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Connie attended St. Mary's Academy and Holy Name College in Windsor and trained and worked as a medical technician at Grace Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. In 1944 she married Bob Peabody of Birmingham Michigan where they lived and operated the family fruit orchard. In 1960 they moved to Fenton to continue the orchard business. Connie loved the fruit business which she co-owned with her husband. Connie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Ann's Guild, the Fenton Art Guild and Bayview. She is survived by nine children: Mary Soper, Rob Peabody, Janet (Paul Perrault) Koehs, Katherine/Kitty Hendrick, Connie (Dan) Cobley, Bill Peabody, Paul (Pam Merrill-Myers) Peabody, Rachel Peabody, Jim (Patty Smith) Peabody; 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Connie and her family led an active life including camping, downhill and cross country skiing. She was a Girl Scout leader and participated in the St. John's resettlement group, the Befrienders and was a member of the Holy Name church choir in Birmingham and the St. John's choir in Fenton. She was a member of Fenton Art Guild, the Garden Club and Bayview. Activities that continued throughout her life include her love of reading, travel and painting. Led and nurtured by Connie, the Peabody home was a place of pulsating exuberance, challenging discussion and lively activity. There was always room at the table for one more person. Her family and friends were touched by Connie's graciousness and her love of life.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you support your local museums, farm stands and farmers'; markets.
