FERN, Conrad Richard "Dick" - Age 79, of Fenton, died Thursday, January 14, 2010. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 12:00 PM until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Rifle Association. Dick was born August 1, 1930 in Ferndale, the son of Herman R. and Wilhelmina (Dirkse) Fern. He was an 1948 graduate of Holly High School. He married Carol Stewart Crist June 21, 1952 in Holly and she preceded him in death August 23, 2003. Dick owned and operated Fern McDonald Motor Sales until 1973, he than opened Guns Galore. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Surviving are: 3 children, Richard D. and wife Dorothy Fern of Holly, Randolph C. Fern of Grand Blanc and Elaine K. Fern Brancheau of Grand Blanc; 4 grandchildren, Shawn Brancheau of Grand Blanc, Derek Fern of Colorado, Michael and wife Kellee Saunders of Mt. Morris and Richard and wife Corie Saunders of Mt. Morris; 5 great grandchildren, Hailey, Alyssa, Meghan, Rayana and Cody; He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Fern.
