November 18, 1942 — June 9, 2017

O'BRIEN, Connie Jo - Age 74, of Grand Blanc, in God's perfect time died June 9, 2017 from Pancreatic Cancer. A celebration of her life will be held 11AM Wednesday, June 14 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint, with visitation for family and friends from 10 AM until the time of service. Visitation for family and friends will also be 4-8:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Connie was born November 18, 1942 in Flint the daughter of Robert and Clarine Martin. Connie attended Utley, Emerson and Northern schools. She was a homemaker and attended Mott Community College becoming an LPN in 1976. She worked at Flint Osteopathic Hospital for 17 years. At FOH she held many different union positions with AFSCME Local #1850. She worked 11 years at Genesys Hospital and was on the First Teamsters Negotiating Committee for the technical workers. She retired in 2003. She later worked for home health agencies and provided private duty nursing. Connie was a member of Eagles Auxiliary # 2460 and VFW # 3243. She was a member of the River Church in Holly. Connie was known by many as "Mother Ford." She loved to travel and had been to all 50 states. She married Harold (Nick) Nicholson in 1958. They had two children Robert and Lance Nicholson. She married William Ford in 1964. They had two children Kim Ford and Jodi Stein. She married Philip O'Brien in 1985. Surviving are: son Lance Nicholson; daughters, Kim Ford, Jodi (Todd) Stein; grandchildren, Jordan and Derrick Vandesteene, Shian Nicholson, Evan and Allison Tykocki, McKenzie and Connor Stein; sister, Sharon Ostrom; nephew, Dean Gulledge; niece, Sheryl Clark; "other special sons" Dave Stull and Stewart Miller. She also had a special group of friends known as "The Prayer Group" Mary Kelly (deceased), Marilyn Gogas, Diane Monette, and Anna Orvis who over the years shared many special times together. Also special friends Mardell Ohlmacher, Esther Durgin, Priscilla Thompson, Kathy West and Wilma Gerow. Connie always felt blessed to have many friends and acquaintances in her lifetime. She was preceded in death by son Robert Nicholson; husband Phillip O'Brien; sister, Lucille Martin; nephew, Kent Odykirk; niece, Christa Odykirk; and her best friend Richard "Buffy" Valentine. Special thanks to Dr. Szyarto, Dr. Bayasi, Dr. Hanson and Reverence Hospice. Per her request and in her memory and spirit, in lieu of flowers have lunch with a friend, buy one rose for someone who feels all alone or "Pay It Foward" .
