Clyde Beers

BEERS, Clyde George - age 85, of Gaines, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday, August 14, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden with his grandson, Dennis Sutherby officiating. Interment will follow at Argentine Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Beers was born February 4, 1930 in Gaines, the son of Otis and Margaret (Butzler) Beers. He married Barbara Chizmadia on July 1, 1968 in Byron and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2015. Mr. Beers was a 1948 graduate of Gaines High School and a life long resident of Gaines. He was a self-employed dairy farmer of over 60 years retiring in 2000. He enjoyed traveling after retirement and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Surviving are: five children, Charles (Theresa) Durham of Gaines, Sherry (William) Sutherby of Bancroft, Ruth (Larry) Hickens of Maryville, TN, Frank (Nancy) Durham of Gaines, Todd Durham of Knoxville, TN; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Helga Ort of Linden; siblings, Leah Beers of Durand, Homer Beers of Gaines, and Elsabeth Chojonwski of Linden, along with several nieces and nephews.
