BRODIE, Clara M. - Age 99, formerly of Swartz Creek, died Saturday December 25, 2021. A funeral service will not be held at this time due to Covid concerns. Private burial was held at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris Twp. Clara grew up in the Flint area and graduated from Northern High School. She also attended Baker Business School. During World War II she moved to the DC region and worked as a payroll clerk at the Pentagon. After moving back to Flint, she met John Brodie and was married to him for 54 years. Clara enjoyed volunteering, and had a passion for helping others. She was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and was very active with the United Methodist Women, holding many leadership positions including, president and treasurer. Clara was a volunteer at the American Red Cross for 30 years, She felt a strong civic duty and worked on local elections for many years. She was a great cook and everyone wanted to be on her Christmas cookie list. Surviving are: daughter, Suzanne M. (Thomas G. Boxell) Brodie of Flint; brother, Samuel (Judith) Chapman of Flushing Twp.,and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Brodie, son Michael R.
