Christine "Chris" Campbell

Campbell, Christine “Chris” - Age 88, of Flint, formerly of Swartz Creek, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at Woodhaven Senior Community. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Gregory Timmons will be officiating. Interment at 2:30 PM Saturday, February 1 at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 31; and Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Gentiva Hospice, 4485 Oak Bridge Drive, Suite D, Flint, MI 48532. 

Chris was born on November 29, 1936 in Swartz Creek. She met her future husband, Malcolm James Campbell, at Flint Junior College, and they were married on August 16, 1958 in Swartz Creek. She was a 1955 graduate of Mary Crapo High School in Swartz Creek, graduated from Flint Junior College in 1957, and University of Michigan - Flint Campus in 1959. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Cummins Community School in Flint for one year and then stepped away from teaching to raise her children. She later became a substitute teacher for the Swartz Creek School District for 18 years. Chris was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church, Swartz Creek Historical Society, and held both district and local offices in the United Methodist Women organization. She had many hobbies including traveling, sewing, quilting, visiting her family and friends, and participating in many events at Woodhaven Senior Community. Surviving are: 3 children, David of Swartz Creek, Jane (Robert) of East Lansing, and Jill (Marc) Secord of Commerce City, CO; 3 grandchildren, Whitney of Durand, Travis of Swartz Creek, and Hannah (Salvador) Espinoza of Flint; 2 great-grandsons, Salvador and Dublin; and a host of friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sons, Scott (1964) and Christopher (1967); daughter-in-law Lori Campbell; parents Ivan and Eleanor Bendle; siblings Betty, Bill, and Bernard.
