Chester Dunkerson

DUNKERSON, Chester Junior - Age 87, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, July 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Mark Cox officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Burial will take place 2:30 PM Thursday, July 7 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Chester was born February 8, 1929 in Flint. He married Doris Holden on July 31, 1950 in Blytheville, AR. Chester served in the U.S. Army. He loved to fish and travel. Chester retired from General Motors after 36 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Dennis (Carol) Dunkerson of Flushing, Deborah Dunkerson of Grand Blanc, Scott (Kathy) Dunkerson of Racine, WI, Carla (James) Vick of The Woodlands, TX; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Summerfield of Mt. Morris, Genoma Gallion and Betty Bowden of Arkansas; brother, Steve Cook of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronald and three brothers, Charles, Bud and Jim.
