WALTERS, Charles Joseph "Joe" - age 77, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Monsignor Richard Groshek celebrant. Interment will be held at 9:30 AM Monday, April 12, 2010 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 5-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday. Joe was born March 1, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan as the son of Kenneth Stuart and Frances M (Walsh) Walters. He was a graduate of Dye High School in Flint and received a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from Ferris State University. Joe served in the US Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He worked for Walgreens in Chicago after graduating from Ferris. It was here that he would meet and then later marry "Katie" Katherine J (Loepke) Walters on April 7, 1962. He moved to Greensburg Indiana in 1967, where he owned a small pharmacy for four years. Shortly after the death of his father, Joe sold his store and moved back to Flint to live closer to his mother and siblings. He worked in the area as a retail pharmacist for over 30 years. Joe enjoyed golfing, and played on a league for a few years after retirement until his wife died in 2007. Surviving are: son, Roy Kenneth Walters; daughter, Veronica F. Walters, both of Las Vegas, NV, sisters Drenda Seyer of Lake City, Mi and Debbie ByMaster of Millington, Mi: brother Ed Walters of Owosso, and nieces and nephews.
