Charles Douglas Vaughan Born: May 3, 1939 - February 21, 2023
Doug was born to Rupert Rex Vaughan and Cleo Georgia Cooter Vaughan in Baileyton, Tennessee on May 3, 1939, and passed away on February 21, 2023. A celebration of life will be held, 11AM Wednesday May 3 at Bristol United Methodist Church, 5285 Van Slyke Road, Flint, Luncheon to follow at 12PM. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek.
Doug moved to the Flint area as a junior and enjoyed it so much that he decided to stay, especially after he met Carol Sack. He graduated from Central High School in Flint, Michigan in 1957. Was employed at the Metal Fab of General Motors in Flint, Michigan for 37 years.
Doug married Carol Ann Sack, October 3, 1959. They were married 63 years and enjoyed traveling around the country and visiting their children and grandchildren as they were posted around the world.
Doug was an avid gardener with a green thumb, he enjoyed growing a variety of items, until the deer got ahold of them. Doug also enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan, which was his ‘happy place”. One could always find Doug sitting in the sun or meandering around the yard. He loved the viewing the sunsets when they lived in Frankfort, Michigan.
Doug leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Carol; his three children, sons, Charles Vaughan of Swartz Creek; Christopher Vaughan (Chona) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and daughter, Cynthia Ellington (Greg) of Frisco, Texas. Grand children, Christopher Vaughan of Leesburg, Georgia; Samantha Vaughan of Flint, Michigan; Jason (Yoanna) Vaughan of Colchester, Vermont; Jennifer (Mikey) Lopez, of Frankfort, Germany; Jessica (Rupert) Lirang, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Elizabeth Ellington of Plano, Texas; Catherine Ellington of The Colony, Texas and Alexander Ellington of The Colony, Texas. Doug also leaves 7 great grandchildren that he adored, Iris Vaughan, Daphne Vaughan, Penelope Lopez, Ezekiel Lopez, Oliver Lirang, Gabriela Ellington, and Isabel Ellington. Doug also leaves behind his sister, Wanda Vaughan Sensabaugh (Tom) of Baileyton, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
